Product Description
2. A mixture presumably containing acetone, hexane and benzene was analyzed using gas-liquid chromatography. Chromatograms of the analyzed mixture and standard witness substances were obtained under identical chromatography conditions. The retention distance was measured for each substance in the chromatograms of the standard substances and the following results were obtained:
Standard substance Acetone Hexane Benzene
l, mm 26.0 31.5 37.5
The retention distance l, peak height h and peak width a1/2 at the middle of its height were measured for each component in the chromatogram of the mixture.
Mixture component no. l, mm h , mm a1/2 mm
1 26.5 155 2.5
2 32.0 88 2.5
3 38.0 148 3.8
Identify the components of the mixture and, using the internal normalization method, calculate the mass fraction (%) of each component of the mixture. Correction factors, characterizing the sensitivity of the used detector to the analyzed substances, are taken equal to one.
Draw a schematic chromatogram of this mixture. On the chromatogram, mark the moment of sample introduction into the chromatographic column and, using the example of the component exiting the column last, indicate the parameters by which the identification and quantitative analysis of the components of the mixture are carried out.
