Product Description
11. The following data on the coagulation of gold hydrosol with a sodium chloride solution were obtained experimentally:
Coagulation time t, s 0 60 120 420 900
Total number of particles v*10-14, m-3 5.22 4.35 3.63 2.31 1.48
Viscosity n=1*10-3 H*s/m2, and T=293 K.
Calculate the average value of the coagulation rate constant k according to Smoluchowski's theory. Compare the obtained value with the constant calculated using equation (12.5). Draw a conclusion about the applicability of Smoluchowski's theory to the coagulation of gold hydrosol.
