8. Copper does not displace hydrogen from hydrochloric and dilute sulfuric acids. Why? If a copper plate dipped in acid is touched with zinc, then a rapid evolution of hydrogen begins on the copper. Give an explanation for this by drawing up the electrochemical equations for the anodic and cathodic processes.
