Product Description
10(1) For the determination of nickel in a sample by paper chromatography on paper impregnated with dimethylglyoxime and water as solvent, the following spot areas were obtained as a function of nickel concentration:
C mg/0.2 cm3 0.12 0.45 0.90 1.20 1.65
S mm2 26 44 66.5 83 105
When analyzing the sample, a weighed portion m was dissolved and diluted to 25 cm3. With a pipette, 0.20 cm3 of the solution was applied to the chromatographic paper and after determining the area of the spot. Calculate the mass fraction of nickel in the sample from the following results:
Option 1
Sample weight, g 0.5000
Spot area, mm2 52.5
C mg/0.2 cm3 0.12 0.45 0.90 1.20 1.65
S mm2 26 44 66.5 83 105
