Product Description
5. Adipic acid in the butadiene hydrocarboxylation product was determined by paper chromatography. The chromatogram was developed with methyl red. The resulting spots were cut out along the contour, dried and weighed. For standard solutions with different contents of adipic acid, the following data were obtained.
Weight of acid, μg 5 10 15 20
Mass of paper with a spot, mg 61 106 146 186
A portion of the analyzed sample weighing 150 mg was dissolved in 20 ml of water. A drop of the resulting solution with a volume of 0.05 ml was applied to chromatographic paper. The weight of the spot thus obtained was 127 mg. Determine the mass fraction of adipic acid.
