Product Description
In 1908-1910 Perrin determined Avogadro's constant. To do this, he observed the distribution of small gum balls in water using a short-focus microscope (Fig. 16.17). By focusing the microscope on one layer or another, it was possible to count the number of particles in each layer. In one of the experiments the following data were obtained: Data on the table. Knowing that the radius of the ball is 0.212 μm, the density of gum is 1.252 103 kg/m3, and the density of water at 27°C is 0.997 103 kg/m3, determine Avogadro’s constant.
