Product Description
Currently, there are approximately N ~ 103 man-made bodies (satellites, accident debris, etc.) in near-Earth space. Taking the thickness of the “populated” atmospheric layer to be h = 100 km, and the characteristic size of objects to be l = 1 m, estimate the “lifetime” of an individual body. Consider that bodies “die out” only as a result of mutual collisions, i.e. Do not take into account braking in the atmosphere. Also estimate the time between collisions of any two man-made bodies - how often should collisions occur?
