Product Description
In the first generation of thermonuclear reactors it is proposed to use the reaction of deuterium with tritium: d + t -> 4He + n + 17.6 MeV. The value of sv (where s is the reaction cross section, and v is the relative velocity of the reacting particles), averaged over the Maxwellian distribution, is equal to sv = 5.5 • 10-21 cm2/s at T = 1 keV; sv = 1.1 • 10-16 cm2/s at T = 10 keV. Assuming that the plasma contains equal numbers of deuterium and tritium atoms, calculate the thermal power density P and the total power W of the thermonuclear plant
