Product Description
The air in the space between the plates of a flat capacitor, the dimensions of which are 10X10X2.5 cm, is ionized by X-rays so that 109 pairs of ions per second are formed in 1 cm3. The capacitor plates are connected to a voltage source of 1300 V through a resistance of 1010 ohms. The same resistance of 1010 ohms is connected in parallel with the capacitor (Fig. 105). What current flows through the source? (We can assume that the ions reach the capacitor plates without having time to recombine, and that the charge of each ion is equal to the charge of one electron.)
