Product Description
11. At a wavelength of 580 nm of maximum absorption, the Fe(SCN)2+ complex has a molar absorptivity of 7.00 × 103 L cm-1 mol-1. Calculate:
(a) – optical density of a solution of the complex with a concentration of 4.47 × 10-5 M at a wavelength of 580 nm in a 1.00 cm cuvette.
(b) optical density of the solution in a 2.50 cm thick cuvette, in which the concentration of the complex is half that in (a).
(c) the percentage of transmission of the solutions described in (a) and (b).
(d) the optical density of a solution whose transmittance is half that described in (a).
Answer: a) 0.313; (b) 0.391; (c) 48.6% and 40.6% (d) 0.614
