Product Description

61. To reduce acidity, the soil is limestone. The benefits of liming acidic soils were known three thousand years before our era: ancient Egyptian farmers noticed that red and yellow soils located near limestone quarries were more productive. When limestone CaCO3 is introduced into soil water, a chemical reaction occurs: 2H++CaCO3=Ca2++CO2↑+H2O.
Calculate the volume of carbon dioxide (at N.C.) that will be released when 200 liters of soil water with a pH value of 3.3 is treated with an excess of limestone.
